Well, it's been an interesting learning experience - but I'm pretty sure I actually have a decent version of Issue 1 of the Journal of Unlikely Entomology compiled into epub format. Issue 2 is taking a bit more effort, as some of the stories in our second issue were, frankly, challenging from a web design point of view. I have yet to tackle the footnotes in Zaar, or figure out how to place the wandering fly in The Ferry Quick Like Rain. @carpetsalesrep need to feel like a twitter feed, and I've got that partially sorted, but there's a bit more I need to make it look right. And then there's the vexing problem of floating images within text. Why do some e-readers refuse to honor something as simple as setting a few pixels as padding? I mean, is that too much to ask for? (iPad/Phone, I'm lookin' at you.)
And then, I need to convert to kindle format.
The plan ultimately is to get the zine up and for sale at various locations. But before that, we'll post both issues in both formats up for a couple weeks, for free download, with the caveat that we would like you to give us feedback on how it displayed on your e-reader of choice.
