putting the map in steam(map)punk

'Tis the season for announcements.

Saturday, September 10th, oh, around 8pm-ish, a number of authors and editor-folk responsible for In an Iron Cage: The Magic of Steampunk (or here for the kindle version) will be convening at Dorian's Parlor at the DoubleTree Hotel in Philadelphia for book launch type festivities. What does this mean? It means raffles, and prizes, and yummy books, and so on.

Who will be there? Um... In alphabetical order: Danielle Ackley-McPhail, Elektra Hammond, Bernie Mojzes (me, in case you were lost), A.C. Wise, and Jeff Young.

But hey, don't just come for us. Dorian's is a fantastic time, a steampunk ball with all manner of mad entertainment: bands, fashion shows, dancers. Warnings and caveats - if you don't purchase tickets online, bring cash, and remember that it is a 21+ event.

Why the map reference? Because once upon a time I was going to be a cartographer. And my story in the book is about what we all secretly know is true - reality imitates cartography.
