On Voting

Part 2 of "The justness of your cause can be judged by the behavior of the people it attracts."

When I was student in Philly, election time came around. One day, the doorbell rang, and it was my neighbor from across the street. He had his little Vote Republican button on, and he said, "I'm just going around reminding people that tomorrow is the election, and we need every vote." So, I'm standing there with purple hair, and I said, "We've been neighbors for almost a year. You know me well enough to know I'm not going to vote the way you want."

And he said, "That's not what's important. Democracy only works when everyone votes."

I have to say I was impressed.

I'm less impressed with this:

Really, Tom? You're encouraging your supporters not just to turn out for you, but to actively try suppress Democratic voter turnout?
