st. sebastian

So this morning, Linda says, "Explain the St. Sebastian thing."

from: http://www.college.ucla.edu/ugresearch/pro_scholars0405a-k.html#cabrera:

these writers and others around them saw Sebastian as a figure of redemption: although gay/lesbian, they too could find a place in the religious nebulae. Moreover, St. Sebastian seems to be perpetually allied with not only his trademark apathetic defiance but also with the androgynous and the sadomasochistic. This strange mélange of religious fervor and “perverse” sexuality has not fully been explored.
