a busy day

First, the good news.

Romney dropped out. Linda says that a bunch of conservatives were on NPR griping about this. They called McCain a liberal, and they hate Huckabee. "I'll vote for Hillary," one of them said.

Now, the bad news:

Seven people were shot, five of them fatally, Thursday evening at a police station and a City Council meeting in the city of Kirkwood, Missouri, police said.

Dozens of people were injured -- more than 30 of them critically -- in an explosion at a sugar refinery near Savannah, Georgia, Thursday evening, law enforcement and medical officials said.

And then, closer to home - a house at 6th & Bainbridge in Philadelphia exploded (as in, the garage door was thrown across the street and smashed up the house across the street. Amazingly, nobody was injured.

An explosion and fire gutted a modern South Philadelphia rowhouse Thursday, scattering debris half a block and driving neighbors from their homes.

No one was injured in the blast, which might have been caused by a gas leak. The occupants of the home, on Sixth Street just south of Bainbridge Street, were away at the time.

"It's a good thing no one was here," said Deputy Fire Chief James Grugan, surveying the wreckage of the three-story home, its front blown away to expose a charred interior.

I saw this on the news, and they were interviewing Sal Sandone, bastard owner of the martial arts school around the corner on Bainbridge St. This is the man who screwed over my kid, and then screwed over my Sensei and my karate school.

"He's gained a lot of weight," Linda said.
